Hearing aids will help to reduce Tinnitus volume and distress in most people but to differing degrees.
The Ear Science Institute of Australia agree with this statement as say the following
"It is accepted that hearing aids should be the first thing to be considered for someone with tinnitus and hearing loss. Many studies have provided evidence to support that hearing aids reduce the sensitivity of the brain to sounds, decrease automatic negative reactions to tinnitus sounds and/or reduce the stress level that results from living with tinnitus."
Some manufactures have unique methods to assist their hearing aids to reduce tinnitus such as the Widex Zen Program using Fractal tones or Notch Therapy which most Signia hearing aids have as an option.
Tinnitus Pro is a modern digital therapy app which personalises tinnitus treatment for patients, and allows the Audiologist to monitor progress via an online portal. Unlike some platforms it doesn't require a specialised machine or expensive equipment. I do personally find a decent set of headphones connected to your own mobile phone or tablet is great, but it can also be played via external speakers if required.
The Tinnitus Pro treatment platform is only able to be purchased in conjunction with a suitably trained Audiologist. Released by Neuro Tone AI, the same company that produced the fantastic Lace AI Pro App which has been shown across many studies to increase most peoples ability to hear better in back ground noise.
Designed by Dr Paul Davis (who also invented Neuromonics over 20 years ago comes Oritone Tinnitus Treatment.
It has most demanding hardware needs and will only work with Apple phones and Air pads with IOS 18 plus and also require Apple Air Pods 3 or 4 or Airpod Pro 2 or 3 that can do the 3D scan of the ears.
I am doing the training late Jan and this will be updated after that.
I have uploaded their White Paper Article to our downloads section for those that can't wait for my summety.

This trreatment approach uses not only spechtrally modified sound but also a small electric current to the tongue.
This aims to decrease attention to phantom sounds of tinnitus.
I haven't been able to organise training yet for this novel approach but will update further info as it becomes available.
Issues with hearing and speech understanding is fairly common with severe tinnitus. Created by Neurotone AI the Listening and Communication App (LACE AI Pro), training has been shown to improve clients skills such as hearing in noise and working memory, which are needed for successful hearing and communication and also assist with the ability to use hearing aids in background noise. Click learn more to be taken to the Lace AI PRO page. Also see Neurotome's Tinnitus Pro Management and treatment APP both of these products available and supported by our Clinical Audiologist.

Tinnitus Pro
combines personalised sound therapy matched to your individual tinnitus and a range of cognitive behavioural tools and further education through the app.
The App is unique in that it has both of the Habituation and Adaptation approaches, which aim not only to desensitises the brain to the tinnitus and reduce the negative emotional response but also using the noise notch approach to remove the pitch of the disturbing tinnitus and play it back inaudibly retraining auditory cortex activity. This in turn allows the brain to reinterpret the sound as general background noise, improving focus and reducing distress. It also has settings for relief and sleep, for those times that the tinnitus may have become agitated though stress or loud noise for example.
It also uses guided meditation for relaxation and and education about triggers. Your Audiologist can join you in your journey via a dashboard if you wish to monitor your progress.
For best results the personalised therapy should be used for 2-4 hours a day for for 6 to 12 months.
This is often followed by a maintenance phase where you may use it once a week or if a trigger like stressful event winds it up.
As it is very new to the market I will be providing further information as it arrives but am already using it to assist with my own Tinnitus. It is one of the more budget friendly options, with a RRP of $500. This covers the App and the setup with the Audiologist which can be done remotely if required.

Who is Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment suitable for?
Needs a compatible Apple or Android mobile phone and suitable ear phones to deliver the therapy.

An APP uses a number of tracks which have been modified based on your earlier testing, conveniently via your own phone and headphones.
These sounds have to be played for 2-4 hours a day over 6 months.. Only the tracks from the app can be used. You can still do things like walk, cook, clean ect but avoid stressful situations and loud places where its difficult to hear during this period each day.
The Audiologist will use the information from the comprehensive hearing test battery to set the App to the correct settings for you, as well as monitor your usage through an online dashboard.
Phase 1 of the therapy is about reducing the distress and attention to the tinnitus
and slowly begin the process of desensitising the brain to the noise.
Part 2 of the Neuromonics Tinnitus management program will have your audiologist adjust the settings to the treatment phase. There isn't as much masking noise in this setting. It is designed to further desensitise your brain, so even when you do notice the tinnitus, the volume is lower, and the brain isn't producing a negative emotional response to the sound like anxiety or depression.
Across 10 clinical studies with over 1000 thousand participants, Neuromonics has an average success rate of 83%. These studies are published in peer review journals such as the prestigious Hear and Hearing Journal. In addition to this, the American Military and our Department of Veterans Affairs both assist with funding for Veterans and have found satisfaction rates to be high enough to continue to do so.
.
The cost for supply, therapy set up, phone check-up's, and face to face appointments at 3 and 6 months is $4800. This treatment protocol can only be obtained via a Audiologist who will assist you across the 6 months treatment program.
A Tinnitus Assessment is required prior and this appointment can be bulk billed with GP referral on our referral pad.
The app can be configured remotely for you if you are a distance away but the 3 and 6 month appointments must be in the office. A comprehensive hearing test prior to the fitting is required to see if referral/treatment is required for any physical causes of the tinnitus.
This initial comprehensive hearing assessment can be bulk billed with GP referral on our paperwork. The GP referral pad is available on this website under the downloads section.
A TRIAL OF NEUROMONICS IS NOT POSSIBLE as it is a 6 month program . Unlike our hearing aid policy and the 30 day satisfaction guaranty.
We offer financing options to help give financial options for treatments, hearing aids, and other hearing solutions.
We try and bulk bill most of our services to increase affordability. In some instances NDIS or Workcover QLD may assist if relevant. Some private health funds may also pay towards hearing and treatment devices and it is best to to speak to them directly.
Finally Veteran's who hold a gold card or a white card which states tinnitus and/or hearing loss, (as an approved condition), may be eligible for funding by the Department of Veterans Affairs. To access this a letter from an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist is required, and then we will be happy to help you by submitting the request to DVA for you
