Suitable to assist both hearing aid users and people with hearing in normal limits who struggle with speech clarity in groups, hearing in background noise rapid speech, and working memory.  Also assists with working memory, and processing speed for fast speech. 

A mobile phone, Tablet, or Desktop is required.   A pair of Bluetooth headphones is desirable or the sound can be streamed through hearing aids.  A comprehensive hearing test prior is desirable (Bulk Billed with GP Referral) so we know the current state of your hearing and middle ear system. 

Hearing Aids will assist in making speech louder, and clearing some background noise, which allows you to perceive the speech.  However for listening, remembering,  and comprehending those sounds and their meaning, it is your brain that needs to recall and process the information.  This task is made harder when you have to deal rapid speech, understanding conversation in noise, or you can't recall the information for the context of the sentence.

If you consider the analogy of a knee replacement it requires direct treatment with a prosthetic.  After surgery if you didn't receive  any further assistance you may be able to walk with a limp.  However, add physiotherapy rehabilitation sessions to teach the brain and body how walk properly again, and you will walking with better posture, speed, and balance.  While the prosthetic or device assists by assisting the physical issue, it works much better with rehabilitation, and in the case of hearing aids, aural rehabilitation, improves performance and satisfaction with the devices.
