There are a wide range of "no cost to client", fully subsided hearing aids including hearing aids with targeted features for tinnitus sufferers available, with minimum specifications set by Hearing Service Program. For many clients this device will suit their needs and lifestyle. They are available in a range of styles both in the ear and behind the ear and most have Bluetooth for phones (subject to phone compatibility and hearing aid model).
Should the Veteran or Pensioner want additional features not covered under this program (which may include rechargeability, Hearing aids that use AI for automation and noise reduction, Motion and Fall Sensors, Very small sizes, or more sophisticated noise reduction for crowds and environments like shopping centres with lots of background noise, they can elect to put some of their own money towards the devices together with the Government subsidy and enter a "Top-Up" arrangement making a once off payment towards the devices to cover the difference between the Federal Government Subsidy and the cost of the Devices.
For years Audiologists have used Hearing aids without appropriate Aural rehabilitation to strengthen hearing understanding in noise and speech processing abilities. Now there is an app based program to fill this gap. Even better to obtain results, It takes only 15 min a day for 1 to 3 months. To celebrate its release in Australia, all Top up devices prescribed at Bundaberg Hearing Aids and Tinnitus Treatment Clinic come with the LACE AI Pro Aural rehabilitation program FREE. A discounted rate is available for clients who are fitted with "No charge to client devices" should they wish to improve their hearing in noise and performance and satisfaction with the hearing aids.
There will never be any pressure for any of our clients to purchase top up hearing aids, unless they want to and would benefit. Being an Audiologist in Private Practice means we don't have management screaming about monthly budgets, average selling price, and top up rates. So we spend our time on what is important you our customers.
We can fit most brands and models including, Starkey, Signia, Widex, Unitron, Phonak, GN Resound, Phillips, Oticon, and Bernafon. I don't recommend white label Hearing Aids (where the company hides the make and model by putting their own label on it, as well as their own software) such as some devices from Hearing Australia and Spec Savers for example as I feel its a barrier to clients moving to another provider if they are unhappy with the service. We are still willing and able to assist with maintenance and adjustment of these devices and have or can get the software installed to do so if required.
Assistive Listening Devices are another option under the Hearing Services Program. I highly recommend the Audeara Tv Bundle Blue Tooth TV Headphones or Audeara Ear Buds and fit them regularly to eligible Pensioners and Veterans instead of hearing aids if the only issue currently is the TV volume at home.

Private Cost of Hearing Aids
Hearing Aids for Private Clients - Prices vary from $3000 to $9000 a pair INCLUDES LACE AI Pro FREE
Hearing Aid Sales, Service, Trials, and Rentals. If you are new to our clinic a GP referral sheet should be given to your GP for a referral as this will then be bulk billed and this lets us eliminate less likely causes for the Hearing Loss or other concerns so we can focus on next steps treatment options.
Hearing Aid Sales
At Bundaberg Hearing Aids and Tinnitus Treatment Clinic we are able to sell, fit, maintain, pair and adjust most brands of hearing aids including Starkey, Unitron, Phonak, Widex, Signia, GN Resound, Phillips, Bernafon, and Oticon . After appropriate testing the Audiologist will be able to recommend a range of devices to suit your preferences and budget, communication needs, and lifestyle. You may be eligible for a modest rebate on your private health depending on your level of extra's cover. Subject to time constraints a road test in the branch may be offered so you can hear the difference current technology makes.
Private Health rebates may apply with some extras covers - these generally range from $800 to $1600 a pair depending on the provider. Due to privacy legislation you will have to check with your Health Fund directly.
Independent Audiologists Australia released a useful booklet back in 2021 on hearing aid rebates for different funds. Please note these are often varied by Private Health providers and it is best to check with provider. I've attached a copy of the booklet in the shop section.
Prices vary with features, level of technology, and brand. Hearing Aids are a medical device and there is quite a bit of knowledge and expertise to get the best results. The average lifespan of a set of hearing aids is around 5 to 6 years. Most devices in Australia come standardly with a 3 year parts and labour warranty. To hear your best it is recommended to have a hearing test and hearing aid adjustment every 12 months so we can get you hearing as well as possible. Due to this ongoing, usually yearly relationship, it's very important that you are happy with your Audiologist.

1 Free Hearing Test and up to 4 Free Adjustments for the first year (this does not cover hearing tests for GP's, Preemployment, or any test which requires a written report)
Bundled Hearing Aid Service Package
or Pay as you Go
After the first 12 months appointments of service patients may elect to pay for individual services as they require them such as $300 per hearing aid adjustment and $150 per hearing test each year or you may join our service package program and save money each year. If you decide join our program payment will be due 12 Months from fitting. This bundles most services and reasonable disposables for $250 a year if set up as a automatic debit, or $350 a year for manual payments. Billing for automatic payments can be yearly or monthly.

Aural Rehabilitation with LACE AI Pro
ALL of our private and Hearing Service Program Top up hearing aids come with the LACE AI Pro Rehab program FREE. 15 mins a day across 1-3 months is all it takes to improve your hearing in noise. It has been shown to improve satisfaction and performance with hearing aids and should be an essential part of every hearing aid fitting.
Hearing Aid Trials
Hearing aid trials for a 7 to 14 day period can be arranged on some models. This allows you to try them out in your real world environments. Even after a trial Hearing Aids have a 1 month return period post payment and your full amount is refunded (subject to devices being in good condition), should you not be delighted with your new hearing. There is no charge for a trial unless the hearing aids aren't returned or are lost or damaged.

Terms and Conditions
Rental Terms are 3 months to 3 years. Automatic payments must be set up. The rental contract may be terminated early but a $500 termination fee will apply for all rental periods. Loss or damage incurs a $300 replacement fee per aid or charger if rechargeable. The price is the same for 1 or 2 devices. Hearing aids will be updated every 3 years to a newer model.
3 month contract $500, 1 year contract $1500, 3 year contract $1250. Longer terms are cheaper. Automatic payments must be set up and can be made Yearly or Monthly.
Bundaberg Hearing Aids and Tinnitus Treatment Clinic now offers hearing aid rentals if you only need them for a shorter time i.e. during a middle ear infection or tinnitus treatment program or if you want to change your hearing aids every 3 years and don't want to be locked down to an expensive replacement cycle.
Hearing Aid Rental Terms range from 3 months to 3 years.
At the end of each continuous 3 year period hearing aids are upgraded to a newer model and the old devices returned. Any lost devices are billed at $300 each for replacement. Reasonable supply of disposables such as domes, filters, batteries if applicable are covered under the Rental Agreement as well as yearly adjustments and hearing tests, which do not require a written report. Ex demo stock tend to be Premium top of the range devices. There is only a limited stock of Ex Demo devices available.
